Well, sort of. There was some weird database issue that brought down the site. Not really sure what that was, but it'd been forever and a day since I've had a chance to fix it. Finally, got that back up. So...enjoy!

Maybe. Right now, I'm full on involved with my work at Parsons. That means that what webby time I have left to me I have to devote to maintaining my student site, which I can barely handle as it is. It took winter break for me to be able to update it with my work. So, for now, at least, antholog.com is comatose. Later... who knows?

Abby (or, possibly, Ace, if she's sporty) was born around 10 p.m. last night, 21 inches long and weighing in at 7 pounds 2 ounces. Welcome to the world, kiddo!

Just some things that are pissing me off this morning:
- Joe Vas lost the congressional primary to the machine candidate. And the patronage system lives on!
- Busby lost in CA-50, too--Duke Cunningham's district. So their Republican congressman goes to jail and the voters respond by electing another Republican? Well, they'll get the representation they deserve.
- Can it either rain or have the sun come out? I would really love to convalesce in the garden, but not if it keep looking like it will rain.
- Can't get into The Picture of Dorian Grey. I really like the witticism, but the whole thing with Beauty is reeeelly overblown, Oscar.
- Some of the side effects of the surgery are annoying. The less said, the better.
- Burnout: Revenge. Okay,
I actually like it, but they've added more complications to the smashy
part of the game. I just wanna wreck stuff up, okay?!
- The Federal Marriage Amendment. Are they fucking
serious? In a generation, the people who support this will look
like George Wallace and Bull Connor. Get right with history,
folks.
Okay, that's about it.

Whew, first time back at my 'pooter since Thursday when I went on the
slab to get my gallbladder yanked out of me. The verdict, as I told
someone a day or two ago: if you need to get it out, don't worry too
much, it's okay. If you don't need to get it out, best to leave it
where it is--the procedure sucks just enough for you to not want to do
it recreationally. Basically, they cut four holes in me: one
near my navel, one just below and to the right (my right) of the
sternum, and two on my right side. I was able to get in and out the
same day, and, with Andrew's help, I was pretty much able to walk home.
The painkillers are helpful, but without any loopy side effects. Laying
on my left side seems to be the best position. Weirdest
factoid: the worst pain isn't in the incision sites or near my (former)
gallbladder. To do the surgery, they have to inflate the abdomen to
insert the laparoscopes.
The carbon dioxide they inject is mostly out by the time they close,
but some remains. So, when I sat or stood up, a bubble would float into
my upper body cavity and cause really bad pain near my shoulder. It's a little like being a human lava lamp.
Anyway, I'm getting better by the day. The gas seems to have dissolved,
so that's mostly out of the picture, and I've been off the pain killers
for a few hours now with moderate but managable discomfort. Enjoy your
dinner.

We've also achieved 500 story status, too! And 31 users (and not all of them are bots from Russia trying to slide spam in the comments!) A total of 241,336 hits! And three (count 'em--three!) links from Technorati. Woooo!

Feh, my back's gone out on me again. Stupid sacroiliac. Anyway, this article on ugly websites was pretty cool. Ouch, okay, back to the couch.
