In 2004, it was gay people. Now it's Americans who speak Spanish. There's not a wedge issue vile enough for the Republicans. They're even saying that the Star Spangled Banner should only be sung in English because that's the way it's always been. Except when it hasn't, like when the Federal Government translated it into Spanish in 1919 or when it offers four different Spanish translations on its website. And Bush is saying that the anthem should only be sung in English. Except when he hasn't, like when he's campaigning for Spanish-speaking voters.
